MATCH REPORT AND POST MATCH 📋🎙️

Defeat 2-0 in Bergamo for the Rossoblù, who succumbed to Atalanta with two goals scored by Lookman and Pasalic.

THE CHOICES
Ranieri opts for a three-man defense with Hatzidiakos, Dossena and Obert in front of Radunovic. Up front Luvumbo and Shomurodov, Nandez and Azzi as outfielders with Sulemana, Makoumbou and Deiola in the middle. Absent, in addition to Rog and Lapadula, are Mancosu, Pavoletti, Jankto and Di Pardo.

A SUFFERING FIRST HALF
Immediately Luvumbo teases Atalanata, then the black and blue rises in tone and creates several opportunities to score. In the 12th minute Radunovic saves on De Ketelaere, then Koopmeiners to push on. Cagliari made an appearance in the 14th minute with Shomurodov, who on Luvumbo's cross from the right incurs a diving shot but the ball ends up out. In the 23rd minute Lookman escaped deep but was offside and Lookman's goal was invalid, a perfect foreshadowing of what would happen on opposite sides (Englishman's goal) in the 33rd minute for Atalanta lead. In between there had been within seconds (between 27' and 28') Lookman's cross with a stone after dribbling in from the left and Zappacosta's outside post. In the 37th minute again Radunovic on Ruggeri who kicks from inside the area.

CAGLIARI’S REACTION
The second half saw Atalanta always in control, with Cagliari, however, taking courage and pushing with more confidence, thanks in part to running changes. Little happens until the 59th minute, when Zappa crosses well for Shomurodov, who sends a header out. Viola and Augello come in for Hatzidiakos and Sulemana, Cagliari presses and in the 74th minute Dossena kicks from inside the area but cannot find the right coordination. And in 76' Pasalic punishes: a filtering pass that the Croatian turns into a diagonal goal. In the 79th minute Radunovic saves on Zappacosta, then Oristanio in the 82nd minute hits the crossbar with a strong left-footed shot on Luvumbo's cross. Last excitement of the match, which does not end well for the red-blues.

Nicolas Viola speaks to the media this way after the game against Atalanta:

RESTART FROM THE POSITIVE THINGS
"It was a difficult match but we have to restart from the positive things. We suffered Atalanta in the first half, in the second instead there was a beautiful reaction that unfortunately was not enough because in our best moment came the 2-0. We take home the recovery performance and the desire for redemption."

MENTALITY
"We are a team coming from Serie B and definitely on a mental level there has to be a change. The sooner we can adapt to Serie A the faster we can get results and avoid mistakes that in Serie A you pay dearly for. Despite the difficulties of the first matches, however, we have always shown self-sacrifice, great desire and physical strength, what we lack is light-heartedness but with personality and results that will also come."

HEAD TO MILAN
"Now comes Milan, a very strong team, but we need to redeem ourselves and at Unipol Domus we know we can give something more that maybe was lacking today. To emerge in Serie A you also have to do some feats against big teams like Milan, on Wednesday we will certainly give battle. It is a very important opportunity to redeem ourselves and we will prepare it in the best way with the Coach."
