Match report: Atalanta 1-2 Cagliari

A thoroughly dominant second-half performance laid the platform for an excellent away win at Atalanta. Gaston Pereiro netted twice and Cagliari won 2-1: a prestigious victory that can help Rossoblù to get out from relegation troubles, even if the road is still long.

After a hard-fought first period, Cagliari took the lead in the 49th minute courtesy of a Gaston Pereiro's goal. The Uruguayan player receives from Dalbert and scores from close range. After a few minutes Pereiro takes advantage of a Djimsiti error and goes to the net, Musso tries to block him by making a foul. He was the last man, the referee shows him the red card. Atalanta equalised minutes later through Palomino’s instinctive header after a save by Cragno on Zapata.

It would seem that the hosts are on the right wave, when Bellanova finds free meters in front of him to run and then serve Pereiro: “El Tonga” is perfect with his left to beat the goalkeeper.

In the closing stages the Rossoblù may have scored again with Atalanta having left themselves exposed on the break, but, in the end, the two goals are enough to earn the points.
