Cagliari Calcio is pleased to announce the signing of Alberto Grassi from Parma. The player arrives on loan with an option for a permanent transfer, depending on the achievement of pre-determined individual and team results.
Born in Lumezzane in 1995, Grassi grew up as a player in Atalanta BC's academy. In November 2014 - at the age of 19 - he made his debut in the Italian Serie A during the match against AS Roma. In January 2016, SSC Napoli signed him.
During the summer of the same year, Alberto returned on loan to the Nerazzurri. On November 30, 2016, he scored his first professional goal in the Coppa Italia match versus Pescara. In March 2017, he scored his first goal in Serie A, once again against Pescara.
After leaving Bergamo - where he collected 38 caps and 2 goals - Grassi moved on loan to Spal. He played the entire season 2017-18 season for Spal, he scored 3 goals in 28 appearances. His contribution proved crucial to avoid relegation.
In August 2018, he moved to Parma. In three seasons Grassi played a total of 47 games divided into Serie A and Coppa Italia.
Throughout his career, Grassi collected 35 appearances with the Italian youth national teams, 12 of which were in the Under 21. As part of the “Azzurrini”, he reached third place at the 2017 European championships in Poland.
A physical and dynamic midfielder with good pace and technical qualities, Grassi is skilled at both tackling and attacking. His flexibility allows him to play in different positions in the midfield. Charismatic and concrete, Alberto joins Cagliari Calcio to strengthen the Rossoblù midfield.
Welcome to Sardinia, Alberto!
